OCTOBER 12 2013 VINTAGE SLOT CAR CLUB
1960'S 1/24 "SCRATCH BUILT"
"Scratch Built" cars from back in the 1960's were creations of brass and piano wire lovingly soldered together by hand and many times in a pattern to replicate the latest "Arco" Champion's car as illustrated in Car Model or Model Car Science magazine. Improving the handling with these creations was a grand experiment with each person interpreting what they felt was an advancement of the sometimes crude technology represented in the RTR cars of the day. Lower center of gravity with faster motors and lighter bodies was a main theme.
